Cool, calm, relaxed lady looking for someone to share a common interest of smooth R&B some quality rap with. Some inspiring musicians that I follow are Aalyiah, Alicia Keys, Beyonce, Kanyae West, Talib Kweli and Jay-Z, but I also find that The Temptations and Luther Vandross quench my musical thirst too. Hard rap makes me angry...like DMX and Eminem...they sound bad and they are very obnoxious. What I really like and appreciate about Aalyiah and Beyonce and such artists is that they write, produce, and play a lot of thier own music. It takes true talent to do that, not just a pretty face and a decent voice. Now, my musical spectrum of likeness does not only grasp the R&B and rap side, I can also relate to such pop artists as Mariah Carey, Jessica Simpson (and her sister, Ashley) and Shaniah Twain...if you want to catagorize her style of muisc as pop. Also, having such great role models such as these fine artists makes my wardrobe easy to make up, they have impeccable taste and I find it easy to base my attire off of theirs. What I find most important is being in a stress-free environment and the ability to relax where I want, when I want. So holla back if you can level with me and chill for a nice evening filled with the smooth sounds of Aalyiah and all the others...I'll be waiting for you......;)

Please post your responses to the two documentaries (Farenheit 9/11 and Farenhype 9/11) that we watched in class over the past two days. I want you to compare the two films and rationalize whether they were successful or not in their persuasion, and then back your argument up with their use of ethos, pathos, and logos. Pay attention to tone of voice, music, images, the narrator/presenter of the film (for Farenhype, look this up on the internet or email Nick), use of different stereotypes (racial, gender, religion, etc.), and any other notes you have taken. Don't just write a "paragraph." Use the extensive notes you produced over the past two classes. And don't be biased. Convey your argument objectively and neutrally. Due Monday morning by 9am.

Okay, originally I posted this about twenty-minutes ago or something like that, but the stupid system ate my post, so....

Firstly, I've never seen The Matrix or any subsequent parts, however, I did know the parody of the jump scene. Secondly, I watched it on mute since my roommate is sleeping, however, I don't think that detracted from the message, especially with the footers.

My first dumb sleep-deprived reaction was Men in Black, however, in general I think that it held a good message. Some meatplants out there do harm the animals they're going to slaughter. That's not cool. Even if the eventual fate of an animal is slaughter, they shouldn't be mistreated leading up to it. I mean, the breaking of the chicken's beak symbolizes stuff that shouldn't go on. I don't think that mankind will ever abandon eating meat because it's in our chemical makeup to do so. There are nutrients in animal products that cannot be produced through other foods, but can be taken through vitamins...

Anyway, my reaction is that it's a good message given creatively through Flash, and I'll go to bed now instead of putting up that circular ending I about did.

Hey, I like the old school Beatles, Led Zeppelin, The Rolling Stones, Rage Against the Machine, and the Def Tones. 311 and CCR are the more contemporary bands that I like. I like Classic Rock because I can "connect" to it. As you can see, I like upbeat music, which means I'm an upbeat kind of guy, if you know what I mean. I'm a romantic who likes to play the guitar when I need mental therapy; although, dont get me wrong, I like going out and grooving to the upbeat club songs because I do like to party, and when I partyI PARTY! I dont like country or pop music because they tend to sing about the same stuff over and over again! Overall I would say I like rock and classic rock bands because I can appreciate them for their talents and their ability to appeal to their fans. Hopefully, if youre interested, you can explore with me into the lovely world of authentic music. I could so you a real good time. Wednesday's Process Exercise

On Wednesday, we are going to be looking at a method of writing called "process writing." For Wednesday, I would like each of you to break up into five groups (each group will comprise about four students) and create a "perfect" process that your group will present orally to the class, preferably with visual aids (nothing that vibrates, please). Webster's New Collegiate Dictionary defines a process as "a natural phenomenon marked by gradual changes that lead toward a particular result" (910). So, for instance, building a house would be a process, as would wiping your ass. But each group is expected to speak for five minutes, with participation from ALL members, and I doubt even Colin could talk about ass-wiping for that long. You should have distinct visual aids that correspond with your presentation, for process demonstration purposes, and you may choose the process of your choice (as long as it is not too lascivious). This mini-group project will be graded, but the group that gives the most visually illustrative and orally detailed presentation will receive prizes. So set up your groups and get moving!

For this week's blog, I want you to comment HONESTLY, by Wednesday evening, on three strengths and three weaknesses in your group's entire presentation, including gathering, communicating, decision-making, contribution, and performance. Don't be afraid to constructively criticize your group as a whole, critize defined as "consider(ing) the merits and demerits of and judg(ing) accordingly" (267).
